It’s their pathway from being interested in a link online and clicking it, to becoming users, customers, investors, and employers. Some people call this branding, but I believe it goes deeper than a logo.

When I published my book Be More Popular: Culture-Building For Startups it became an Amazon bestseller. Since it was successful (and still sells well) I have taught the ideas in the book to students in overflow classes at General Assembly and the University of Southern California (USC). Being more popular online, and building a culture around your company, were clearly ideas that resonated with startup founders. Anyone starting a new business needs customers. You need to build a culture around your work to get new customers. You have to discover who they are, create the story that will reach them, and put it out there. You need a social narrative.
I wanted to spread the ideas in the book. Not only to startups but also to solopreneurs, business coaches, writers, designers — anyone who can also benefit from creating a narrative for what they do and getting that story on the right online channels.
